04:34
Yash Chopra is remembered for giving the Bollywood two of it’s all time super stars  Amitabh Bachchan (in his angry young man avtar, and Shahrukh Khan (the ever romantic), but when it comes to presenting his heroines, the maestro simply continued to do favour on Bollywood. No one and No one, not even Raj Kapoor, is said to be close to Yash Chopra in bringing the best out of and about her heroines.
His heroines were sensual, pristine and gracefully beautiful. We will present our readers those Divas, the heart-throb of millions, the very epitome of beauty, the ladies of Yash Chopra’s movies:
Sharmila
Sharmila Tagore Sharmila Tagore had the glory of becoming Yash Chopra’s first leading lady in Daag with Rajesh Khanna. The movie was a super hit, yet another of Rajesh–Sharmila pair. Sharmila played the role of a woman who happens to find shelter in the house of another woman (Rakhee) who apparently is the wife of his husband.

rakhee
Rakhee – The ever graceful Rakhee was presented in Kabhie-Kabhie in a very unconventional avtar – a very glamourous one in a movie which is the best poetic movie ever. Verses from Sahir Ludhianvi’s Poetry immortalised the role of a woman reciting kabhie-kabhie on her wedding night and is forced to forget her first love. The intensity of emotions brought out on screen seemed so real that they continue to remain etched on hearts of an entire generation.

Sridevi
Sridevi  Sridevi was lucky to have worked twice with Yash Chopra, in Chandani and in Lamhe. In Chandani, Sridevi in titular role of Chandani redefined the romance with Rishi kapoor as a made for each other couple. The movie is famous for Sridevi’s dance performances and launched her to number one spot in Bollywood. Sridevi’s double role in Lamhe established her reputation as an actor par excellence. The movie and her acting won the critic’s acclaim.

rekha
Rekha  In Silsila, Rekha played the role of ‘other woman’, a role close to reality in view of her romance with a married Amitabh Bachchan. Rekha made the role an unforgettable one with her acting and her pristine beauty. The result – Silsila is regarded as one of the best made movies ever in Bollywood. Rekha started a new fashion statement with whatever she did, wore and adorned in this movie be it the salwar-suit or the kaajal or the long flowing tresses.

madhuri
Madhuri Dixit – Though Madhuri needed no one to push her career to heights as she was the reigning actress in Bollywood when she did Dil to paagal hai, the role gave her the opportunity to re-emphasize her acting talent, beauty and versatility. Her lithe body created a magic in the dance sequences and yash Chopra seemed to have brought the best out of her. Cast opposite a very young and agile Karishma Kapoor, Madhuri proved that age did not matter when excellence is at work.

preity
Preity Zinta – In a script woven across Indo-Pakistan boundary, Preity amazed everyone by her strong performance in Veer Zaara. This love story created history in Bollywood. Cast in a very conservative role, Preity managed to display an unforeseen sensuality shedding her vivacious girl image.

Juhi Chawla
Juhi Chawla – Juhi, the vivacious actress of Bollywood, played the love struck wife of Sunny deol in Darr who is constantly stalked by Shahrukh Khan. It was a difficult role in an offbeat film and Juhi did hundred percent justice to the role. The beautiful locale of the shooting in movie were enhanced by the serene beauty of Juhi.

kajol
Kajol  Kajol got the dream role of young European Indian girl wanting to live the life to fullest before she gets married in a conservative Indian family. She played the role of a bubbly girl in first part where she is charmed by Shahrukh. In second part, she played the typical Indian shy girl, obedient to her parents wish. The movie presented Kajol a challenging role with many shades and she did just that – met the challenge and showed her talent. This was the movie which undoubtedly established Shahrukh-Kajol as the best ever romantic pair in Bollywood.
